# Connect Supaboard to Slack

Ask your Supaboard agents from Slack. Mention **@Supaboard** in a channel, or message it directly, and the answer — chart, table or number — lands back in the same thread.

Slack is one of three chat surfaces on the same read-only tool layer, alongside [Claude](/connect-supaboard-to-claude) and ChatGPT. Nothing asked from a chat can change your data.

# Two steps, two different grants

Connecting Slack involves two separate permissions, and it helps to know which is which.

| Step | Who does it | What it grants |
| - | - | - |
| **Install** the Supaboard app to your Slack workspace | A Slack workspace admin, once | Permission for the bot to read mentions and post replies. It carries **no** access to anyone's Supaboard data. |
| **Link** your Supaboard account | Each person who wants to ask | Your own Supaboard workspace and agent, used for questions you ask. |

An installed workspace where nobody has linked yet answers every question with an invitation to link. That is expected.

## 1. Install the app

Install Supaboard to your Slack workspace from the install link your Supaboard account manager sends you. It opens Slack's own authorisation screen; approve it as a workspace admin.

## 2. Link your account

The first time you mention **@Supaboard**, or if you run `/supaboard link`, the bot replies with a link button. It opens a Supaboard sign-in page where you pick the workspace and the agent that should answer you. You only do this once; the choice is remembered.

# Asking questions

* In a channel: `@Supaboard what was net revenue last week by region?`
* In a direct message: just type the question.

Slack requires an acknowledgement within three seconds, and an analysis takes longer than that, so the bot posts a placeholder immediately and edits the real answer into the thread when it is ready — usually within a minute or two. Charts arrive as images, tables and KPIs as native Slack blocks.

# Slash commands

Everything after `/supaboard` is a command. Without one, it shows help.

| Command | What it does |
| - | - |
| `/supaboard status` | Which Supaboard workspace and agent you are linked to |
| `/supaboard link` | Start, or restart, the account link |
| `/supaboard logout` | Remove your link |
| `/supaboard workspaces` | List the Supaboard workspaces you can reach |
| `/supaboard use-workspace <name>` | Switch the workspace that answers you |
| `/supaboard agents` | List agents in the current workspace |
| `/supaboard use-agent <name>` | Switch the agent that answers you |
| `/supaboard dashboards` | List dashboards in the current workspace |

# Limits

* Read-only. The Slack surface can list workspaces, agents and dashboards and ask questions; it cannot create dashboards, edit agents or write to any source.
* One linked account per Slack user. Switching workspace or agent is a command, not a re-link.
* Answers use the same credits as a question asked in the app.
